Rialto’s Recycling Center for Scrap Metal and CRV Redemption
Rialto residents are big on recycling. In addition to participating in neighborhood collection programs, they support general recycling efforts with their community. However, most residents only know about traditional types of recycling and are unaware that they can help their community by recycling scrap metal and CRV.
If you are in Rialto, scrap metal and CRV recycling is easy. All you need to do is work with Ecology at our Fontana recycling center. We are a short distance from Rialto and work to streamline the process for you. For a user-friendly recycling experience that earns you cash, choose Ecology.
Why Should You Recycle?
We all know that recycling is important because it is good for the environment. But this is a very general understanding. Here at Ecology, we think that the more you know about how recycling benefits both the environment and you, the more you will be motivated to recycle. So, let’s take a look at some concrete ways recycling benefits us and the world around us.
-Trash is a big contributor to pollution. Even when you and your garbage company are responsible for your choices, garbage impacts the environment in negative ways.
-Recycling means industries do not need to create all materials from scratch. This eliminates some reliance on things like mining, heavy water use, and logging, all of which harm the environment.
-Energy consumption is less when materials are recycled rather than created new. Less manpower is also used. This translates into reduced strain on the environment and reduced costs when you purchase the final goods.
-If you recycle with Ecology, you also get the direct financial benefit of compensation for the items you bring in. This helps you while giving you the motivation you need to take that extra step of bringing in your scrap metal and CRV to ecology.
Scrap Metal Recycling
Most people have some amount of scrap metal sitting around unused. However, because we associate the term scrap metal with industry, most of us do not realize that scrap metal is simply what we have. But if you have any amount of metal in your home that is not in use—including old refrigerators and wiring—you have scrap metal.
Whether you have a little or a lot, your scrap metal can be brought to our Fontana recycling center and exchanged for cash. Whatever you have, we will take it off your hands.
Scrap metal is divided into two categories: ferrous metals and non-ferrous metals. Let’s take a look at what makes them different.
Do you want to know if your metal is ferrous? Grab a magnet and find out. If the magnet is attracted to the metal, you have ferrous metal.
Why is ferrous metal magnetic? Because it contains iron and steel. This type of metal is very common, used in automobiles, building construction, and more.
When you come to Ecology with your scrap metal recycling, you don’t need to sort your metal based on it being ferrous or non-ferrous. You just bring what you have and we use an industrial-strength magnet to separate the metals quickly and easily. We never want you to do more work than is needed.
Ferrous metals are of a lower value than non-ferrous metals. With that said, we still offer the best compensation rates and recycling will certainly earn you more than throwing your metal away.
As you have likely already inferred, non-ferrous metals are not magnetic. This means that they are not iron or steel, or are composite metals that contain minimal amounts of iron and steel. Non-ferrous metals include bronze, aluminum, copper, and stainless steel. We use these metals in numerous applications, such as window frames, plumbing systems, bicycles, and even automobile parts. These metals are more highly valued than ferrous metals, and we compensate you accordingly.
The State of California makes helping the environment easy by creating many different programs that encourage it and reward you for your efforts. One of the most important programs the state runs is the CRV recycling program. This program compensates you financially when you bring in CRV recyclables.
CRV recyclables are both cans and bottles that serve as drink and food packaging. This includes soda, beer, juice, and wine bottles and cans. Ecology is proud to participate in this program at our Fontana recycling center. If you have 50 or fewer items, we compensate based on items. If you have more than 50, we compensate based on weight.
Supporting Individual and Corporate Recycling
Why do some people not recycle? It isn’t that they do not care about the environment; it’s because the recycling process isn’t convenient for them. To make people more likely to recycle, we work to make it easier. One way we do this is through a special roll-off bin service.
This service is designed for those who have a lot of scrap metal or CRV to dispose of, either on a recurring basis or due to one big project. We bring roll-off bins in the size of your choice and collect them when filled or when your project is complete. We can collect and deliver bins as often as you need, even several times a day. Contact us to learn more about how this service works.
Items We Don’t Accept
For the Ecology team, the dream is to be able to recycle everything. However, this is not possible. There are certain items that simply are not recyclable, and others that are but cannot be processed at our Fontana recycling center. Below are the items we must refuse due to our capabilities and concerns for the health of our staff.
- Solid waste
- Television monitors
- Oil filters
- Flammable materials
- Medical waste
- Hazardous waste, and
- Sealed drums
If you ever are uncertain about an item, give us a call and we can determine if we are able to recycle it for you.
